Fort Hood is an affordable housing market, even for Texas. You can get a lot for your money, and even our nicest neighborhoods are at attainable price points.
Here are some of our nicest neighborhoods, in no particular order!
Country Trails
Harker Heights, TX
Country Trails is a large, established neighborhood nestled in the center of Harker Heights and a stone’s throw from Highway 190 (I-14). It is a perennial neighborhood atop the list of priciest Harker Heights homes, though it has many affordable home options as well. Featuring mature trees, quiet street and gentle hills, it is certainly among the top most luxurious neighborhoods in the Fort Hood area!
The Ridge
Harker Heights, TX
The aptly named The Ridge is adjacent the amenities Dana Peak Park and Stillhouse Hollow Lake. In spite of being on of the area’s most prestigious communities, it, like Country Trails, does not have an HOA. The homes atop the ridge itself have tremendous, sometimes 270 degree views of the lake and countryside.
River Ridge Ranch
Killeen, TX
Not to be confused with “The Ridge”, River Ridge is quite different! Located conveniently adjacent Highway 195 (Fort Hood St.) in Killeen, River Ridge features homes with large lots – many as large as 10 acres – is a gated HOA community, and is spread along the scenic Lampasas River.
Walnut Creek
Killeen, TX
Adjacent River Ridge on the other side of the river is Walnut Creek, featuring trees galore. Custom home builders are still at work, and most properties feature at least a couple acres. This neighborhood is quietly secluded from but convenient to Highway 195, its roads snaking through the bountiful trees and woods in the Texas Hill Country.
Deerwood Estates
Killeen, TX
This small, newer neighborhood is convenient to Rosewood and the highway, as well as the new YMCA and Purser Park. There is only one way in and out, meaning no through traffic. The homes are all large – starting at 2400 sq. ft. or so, and often a single story.
Stillforest
Killeen, TX
An elite community in Killeen, on the border of Harker Heights, Stillforest is a tiny subdivision bordering the Stonetree Golf Club. The neighborhood is diverse, running along Roy Reynolds road, and has affordable homes as well as fantastic golfing estate homes that back up to the course. This is the best neighborhood for golfers close to Fort Hood, though Mill Creek in Salado is another contender on the periphery of the Fort Hood area.
Bella Charca
Nolanville, TX
A gorgeous gated community in Nolanville, this HOA subdivision is still going strong with custom home builders expanding to newer and newer phases, and is one of the largest neighborhoods on this list. These homes often have the works, featuring upgraded and Mediterranean inspired designs.
Springs at the Escarpment
Belton, TX
Though technically in Belton, Springs at the Escarpment is only halfway between Harker Heights and downtown Belton, and still convenient to Highway 190. These homes are absolutely decked out. This newer neighborhood in Belton features one of the more expensive HOAs in the Fort Hood area (expensive, anyway, by Fort Hood standards) and includes large park with pond and walking trails.
River Place
Belton, TX
Located near Lake Belton, River Place is a well appointed HOA gated community with homes on half acre to full acre lots. The subdivision features some of the largest homes in the area, some approaching 10,000 sq. ft. Beginning in the 1980s, there are custom builders still actively building event today.
Mill Creek
Salado, TX
Salado enjoys the highest median home values of any city in the Fort Hood area, so it only makes sense that it has a neighborhood that enjoys a spot on this list. Located only minutes east of I-35, the neighborhood surrounds the exclusive Mill Creek Golf Club along Salado Creek. Homes sit on half an acre or more, and are often very sizely, some over 5000 square feet. The newer homes are built by Vale-Irvin custom homes, one of the area’s most prestigious builders.
BONUS! The Reserve at Skyline Mountain
Copperas Cove, TX
Hopefully Cove didn’t think I forgot about them! There are some very nice, high end neighborhoods in Copperas Cove, including not only The Reserve, but Reata Ranch, Dewberry Ridge, Mesa Verde and Ogletree Gap. The Reserve is Copperas Cove’s only HOA community, and is just getting started. Sat atop Skyline Mountain, these homes feature some of the best views of the Texas Hill country and Fort Hood of any neighborhood.
