There are a few, quality courses in the Fort Hood, TX area. You don’t have to live nearby to enjoy any of these. But if you’re looking to be within walking distance – or at least golf cart distance – here’s where to start looking for your next home!
Stonetree Golf Course, Killeen
Stonetree Golf Course is in Killeen, but on the border of Harker Heights. The course surrounds the City of Killeen Reservoir, around which is the tiny, elite The Willows neighborhood. The Willows is the quintessential golf course community (no homes actively for sale as of this writing), featuring a sales history between the $250,000s to $350,000s, built in the mid 90s.
Stillforest is another neighborhood bordering along the Stonetree course, also with established, executive style homes.
Across Roy Reynolds but still walking distance is Highland Oaks in Harker Heights.
Hills of Cove Golf Course, Copperas Cove
Hills of Cove is a city owned course just north of Highway 190 as one enters Copperas Cove. 18 holes costs between $32-$37 (including cart). The neighborhood just outside the club house is Turkey Creek, an affordable neighborhood with a wide range of sizes and prices available. The neighborhood was built throughout the 80s, 90s and 2000s, and is a great option (and only option) for golfers who want to be in Cove.
Mill Creek Golf Club and Inn, Salado
Mill Creek is a beautiful course in Salado, TX, that runs along the Salado Creek. 18 holes will put you back just $34-$44. Mill Creek is the name of the subdivision with most of the surrounding homes, but not all the golf course lots are in the same neighborhood. Homes tend to be very large – few under 2000 sq. ft. Some of the older homes near the course may sell in the mid $100,000s, but most of the newer homes are in the high $200,000s up to as high as $600,000.
Wildflower Country Club, Temple
Wildflower is quite a bit more than just a golf course. Included are tennis courts, pools (including a toddler pool), fitness center and event accommodations. It is a members only club. Homes for sale are located surrounding and winding through the entire course, ranging from the $200,000s to over $600,000. Homes tend to be newer, and there are even still vacant lots available for sale, ready to build to specification.
Courses of Clear Creek, Fort Hood
This last golf course is a great course – one of the best in our area. But it doesn’t really belong on the list. This course is on Fort Hood and the only housing in the vicinity is post housing. I still included it on the list if you’re in the area and looking for more golfing!
