Fort Hood’s Cheapest Builder Homes
New Home Affordability
The Fort Hood area is not an expensive area to live. The median home price is between $120,000 and $130,000.
But new construction tends to be more expensive, with the cheapest builders starting generally in the $130,000s and quickly getting into the $150,000s and beyond.
There are some exceptions! The cheapest newly built home on the market now is a 1004 square foot, 3 bedroom home on Killeen’s north side asking $78,000.

Areas to Consider
Most builders don’t put all of their homes on the MLS, so I don’t have a full sample size. But the cheapest new construction home to sell in the previous year went for an even $70,000, also on Killeen’s north side.
Some of the newer neighborhoods featuring affordable new construction include Express Homes (aka D R Horton) in the Lakeview neighborhood. Skyline Flats, Goodnight Ranch, and Eagle Valley are also good neighborhoods to consider with affordable builders.
A fair number of the more affordable homes are also being built in the Lampasas area by companies such as Spring Creek Construction and Harris and Bowman.
